It has been over hundred years since the establishment of this school. It was first 'kudipallikkoodam'. At that time shri. Kochuraman of konnayil veedu ran the school. Hence the school is known as konnayil school. Later the school functioned under the thirunelveli district board.
Shri. Kochuraman also the first headteacher of the school. After the school was shifted to mannakkulam area. In 1960, a plot of land located at 'theruvathu' was taken over by the government. The 50 cent plot in which the school stands was bought on lease from 'Umayama Maharani' of the travancore royal family. Though the school is very old it has not been upgraded for ma ny years. Kumaranasan is said to have taught at this school and Gurudevan to have taught at a sanskrit school in Anchuthengu.
There are now four teachers including the present Headmistress smt. K. Renuka and a part time contingent menial working in this school. There are 120 students [59 boys and 61 girls] in this school.
