Muthumari Amman Temple

In 1695 'Thattanas' who came from 'Thirunnalveli' built up 'Muthumari Amman' Temple near to the junction. It’s the second temple in Anjengo. Now it’s under reconstruction.

New Light

Anjengo Light House now has a new set of bulbs and lens. It’s more powerful than the old one. It has four bulbs in both sides. It’s very helpful for the fisher men and the ships.

Sub district Youth Festival

St. Joseph’s H.S.S .Anchuthengu got a great win in Varkala Sub district Youth Festival conducted on 23-11-09 to 26-11-09 at SSPBHS Kadakkavoor. It’s the First time in school history we got nine first place including mime, English recitation, English felicitation, Tamil recitation etc. and seven second place and four third place.

Full of Police

The non confidential motion has passed. More than 300 of Police were hear for giving protection to the members of panchayath to attend the meeting. Fire force and special armed force are also hear. Now the acting Panchayath president is Mr. Praveen Chandra.

Emergency Declared

The non confidential motion shall be held on tomorrow (24-11-2009). The High Court has declared to send the CRPF force to the area for giving security for the Panchayath members to participate the meeting. The law 23 has been declared by the District Collector for 3 days in the ward 10(from school to kunnumpuram). The slogans and rallies are strictly prohibited in the area. Five or more than five persons not allowed.

Street Drama

Net fish (govt.of india) condected a street drama in many places of Anjengo. It’s a awareness program about cleaning the beaches.

Ladies are in cleaning work. ‘thozhilurappu padhathy’ starts yesterday. It lasts ten days each daye they get Rs. 125/-

Fr.Antony Manippadam S.J. The founder of Sneharam Tuition home. And also he is the god father of meny students. He change the concept of education in Anjengo. Now he is no more.

Youth Festival in St.Joseph's HSS

Youth festival for the students of St. Joseph’s HSS Anjengo for the academic year 2009- 2010 commenced today. The Youth festival was inaugurated by the renowned poet Sri. Vinayachandran. PTA President Sri. Freemose Francis presided over the function. Fr. Bosco, Principal Sri. Sylvester, HM Smt. Freeda, Staff secretary Smt. Bindhu, Arts convener Sri Pathrose and school leader Kum. Bindhya Baldwin made their speech at the function. The arts competition for the UP, HS and HSS students were conducted on three stages. The competition lasts two days, today and tomorrow.

Problems in Panchayath.

As this day to be witnessed non confidential motion raised by the members of the ruling party members against the President, today morning onwards people living at the camp raised slogans against the government and gheroed the Panchayath office. The Panchayath members and other officers were not permitted to enter the panchayath office. Therefore Police reached and both the police and the party members tried to open the panchayath office; but the people obstructed their attempt to open the office. This led to quarrel and heated arguments were exchanged between the people and the party members. Though the parish priest (assistant) requested the people to disperse they did not pay heed to him. Now the Police camp at the place.

The maintenance work is going on in the small minarets of the church. Each minaret has the cost of labor charge of Rs 4300. The 14 minarets have the labor charge of Rs 63000. This amount is except the cost of materials.

Homeless Anjego people end strike

Striking homeless people in Anjengo called off their agitation after drawing an assurance from the state government. The two weeks long agitation in front of the Anjego panchayath office went to an end after the confirmation by Govt. authorities. It is confirmed that all homeless family in Anjego, who lost their homes last year after the fire tragedy, will get 2.5 cent each.
